11+ Exam Dates 2026–2027

The 11+ for September 2027 entry is a set of separate tests run by individual local authorities, consortia and schools. All nine registration windows in the table below have closed, the last at 12.00 noon on 1 September 2026, and the London 11+ Consortium's registration closes on 6 November 2026. The fixed grammar-school sittings in the tables below run from 2 September to 7 November 2026, and every date below comes from the authority's own timetable.

Which 11+ Registration Windows Have Closed?

Registration is the part of the 11+ calendar with the least room for a second chance: The Tiffin Girls' School, The Henrietta Barnett School and the Sutton Selective Eligibility Test each state that late registrations are not accepted.

Nine 2027-entry registration windows are in the table below, and all nine have now closed.

The last of the nine to close was The Tiffin Girls' School, at 12.00 noon on Tuesday 1 September 2026, and the school states that no late registrations will be accepted, as do The Henrietta Barnett School and Sutton Grammar School for the Selective Eligibility Test. Buckinghamshire will not normally accept a late registration without exceptional reasons, but families who move into the county by 18 June 2027 are offered late testing. Kent asks families who have not registered to email its admissions team, and Medway says a child cannot register or sit the Medway Test at a later date. In this cycle the eight windows in the table with a published opening date opened between 1 May and 2 June 2026, so families of children in Year 5 in 2026–27 should look for 2028-entry dates from spring 2027 (the Lincolnshire Consortium's 2027-entry registration opened on 7 January 2026); CSSE says its 2028-entry dates will be published by Easter 2027.

Confirmed 2027-Entry Test Dates, Authority by Authority

Every row below is a date the authority itself publishes. Where an authority sets different dates for children inside and outside its own primary schools — Kent does — both dates are given, because the difference decides which one your child sits.

Two rows in that table are best read against the school's own description. Sutton Grammar School's own admissions FAQ states that the test is two papers, a multiple-choice Maths paper and a multiple-choice English paper, and that the tests do not include verbal reasoning or non-verbal reasoning. A child prepared on a reasoning diet for the SET has prepared for the wrong exam.

Queen Elizabeth's School Barnet is the second. Its entrance test is two multiple-choice papers in English and Mathematics sat in a single session, and the school confirms it runs one round of testing only. The Schools That Test Twice, and the Dates Nobody Lists

The headline date is not the last date. Three of the entries in the table above run a second sitting, on a separate published day, and a family that reads only the first date plans for half the process.

The Sutton row is the one that catches families out. A boy who sat the Selective Eligibility Test on 15 September and qualified has a second stage on 3 October and Wilson's aptitude tests on 10 October: three separate test dates inside 25 days — and the second stage is not the multiple-choice format of the first. Wilson's School and Nonsuch High School for Girls held their second stages on different Saturdays, 26 September and 3 October 2026, a week apart.

The Henrietta Barnett School is the earliest and the longest. Its First Round ran across 2, 3 and 4 September 2026 — before every other date in the table — and tested verbal reasoning, non-verbal reasoning and English. Its Second Round, on Tuesday 6 October 2026 for the top 300 candidates, is a 60-minute English paper and a 50-minute Maths paper. The school said it would write to all candidates by Monday 28 September 2026 with the Round One outcome, eight days before the sitting.

What Happens Between the Test and 1 March 2027

Results arrive on different days in October, and none of them is the deadline that matters most. That is 31 October 2026, the Common Application Form deadline at your home local authority, and it is the same date whether your child has a result yet or not.

Read that table in order and the pinch point is obvious. Kent results land on 15 October and Warwickshire on 16 October, leaving about a fortnight to redraw a preference list before the CAF closes. Second sittings differ: Sutton Grammar School says families hear about eligibility before 31 October, but The Tiffin Girls' School holds Stage Two on 7 November 2026, a week after the deadline, so its applicants complete the form not knowing whether their daughter qualified. Naming a school you have not yet heard from is normal and correct.

Where the Independent-School Calendar Collides With the Grammar One

Families running both routes are managing two calendars . The ISEB Common Pre-Test window for the 2026–27 session opened on 1 September 2026 — the same week as the Henrietta Barnett First Round and a fortnight before Sutton's sitting and nine days before Kent's. The ISEB Guardian Portal opened for registration on 9 June 2026.

The mechanics help more than the calendar hurts. A child sits the ISEB Common Pre-Test once and the result can be accessed by all of the senior schools who require it, so the independent side of a dual application is one sitting rather than several. Testing for the 2026–27 session then runs until late May 2027, and ISEB advises checking with each senior school for any additional test deadlines. Sixty-six days separate the first fixed sitting in the tables above, the Henrietta Barnett First Round on 2 September 2026, from the last, The Tiffin Girls' School's Stage Two on 7 November 2026. A family applying across regions is not preparing for one exam day; it is preparing across more than nine weeks, in different test formats, with a results-and-forms deadline sitting in the middle of it. How Long Each Sitting Actually Takes

The dates tell you which mornings to keep free. They do not tell you how long your child will be sitting, and the answer differs enough between authorities to be worth knowing before you plan the day around it.

Kent's results report three standardised scores, one each for English, maths and reasoning, plus a total. Medway publishes the timed length of its papers: 30 minutes for English and 50 minutes for mathematics, with a break of at least 20 minutes between papers.

Sutton repeats its testing in a second stage. Sutton Grammar School states that the two Selective Eligibility Test papers take between 40 and 50 minutes each, with a rest break between them. The boys' second-stage papers, sat 18 days later, run to around 45 minutes to 1 hour each and are not multiple choice — the same subjects in a different format, which is the part worth preparing for separately.

How to Build a Calendar You Can Trust

The method behind this page is the method worth copying. For each school on your list, open the school's or the authority's own admissions page — not a summary, not a tuition provider's table — and write down four things: the registration deadline, the test date, the second-sitting date if there is one, and the results date. Then write down the day you checked.

The check date is the part everyone leaves off, and it is the part that tells you when to look again. Dates on this page carry theirs. The Slough Consortium is not included, and a date we cannot show you the source for is a date we will not print.

If your list runs across regions, for example Kent, Buckinghamshire, Essex and London, build one sheet rather than four, sorted by date rather than by school. The clashes only become visible when the dates sit next to each other. Kent's non-Kent-primary sitting on 12 and 13 September and Warwickshire's test were on the same two days in 2026, a real and easily missed collision.

Lincolnshire, Medway and the London Consortium

• Lincolnshire Consortium of Grammar Schools: the first test (verbal reasoning) was on Friday 11 or Saturday 12 September 2026, and the second test (non-verbal reasoning and spatial awareness) on Friday 18 or Saturday 19 September 2026. Results are emailed to parents at 12:00 (midday) on Friday 9 October 2026. The closing date for Lincolnshire local authority applications is Saturday 31 October 2026, and out-of-county closing dates may vary. Registration for the LCGS 11+ testing opened on Wednesday 7 January 2026, and registration forms were due back to the individual grammar schools by Tuesday 31 March 2026.
• Medway Test: registration closed at 5pm on Friday 12 June 2026, and Medway Council states that a child cannot register or sit the test at a later date. Children at Medway primary and junior schools sat the test on Tuesday 15 and Wednesday 16 September 2026, and children from non-Medway schools on Saturday 19 or Sunday 20 September 2026. Results are due on Wednesday 14 October 2026.
• London 11+ Consortium of London independent schools: registration closes on Friday 6 November 2026. The assessment is on one of Friday 27 November, Tuesday 1 December or Thursday 3 December 2026. Offers are sent to arrive on Friday 12 February 2027.
