Godolphin and Latymer is an academically selective independent day school for girls aged 11-18 whose Admissions Policy says international 11+ candidates “can usually (by prior agreement) make arrangements with their current school or the British Council to administer the entrance assessment” and “may not sit the entrance assessment at home”. For September 2027 Year 7 entry, registration and the exam form close at noon on Friday 6 November 2026.

The London independent schools hub compares other schools; the London 11+ Consortium assessment and the school’s entry process are on our Godolphin and Latymer School 11+ page; the school’s fees are on its fees page. Quoted from the school’s and the Consortium’s own pages, read on Friday 9 October 2026.

Policy 8.1: where can she sit the entrance assessment from abroad?

Section 8 of the Admissions Policy is headed “International Pupils”. Policy 8.1 names “11 +/Year 7 or 16 +/Year 12 (Lower Sixth)”; this page uses it for the 11+ entry.

What Policy 8.1 and 8.2 say What the family settles
“International candidates applying for entry to 11 +/Year 7 or 16 +/Year 12 (Lower Sixth) can usually (by prior agreement) make arrangements with their current school or the British Council to administer the entrance assessment”The arrangement is made by prior agreement, and the policy says candidates can usually make it. It names her current school and the British Council as venues. Ask the Registrar to confirm the venue in writing before it is booked.
“and to ensure appropriate exam conditions, which will include the use of an exam-ready laptop or other institutional device”Ask the venue, before a date is agreed, whether it has a laptop or other institutional device for her sitting. The Consortium says its exam can be taken on many different types of device, including “iPads, PCs, laptops and chrome books”.
“Candidates may not sit the entrance assessment at home.”The policy rules out her home as the place of the sitting.
“Parents are liable for any additional costs associated with this.”Ask the Registrar and the venue, in writing, what the additional costs of her sitting are, who invoices them and when.
“All entrance assessments must be taken at a time agreed with the Registrar.”Put the date and start time you propose to the Registrar in writing. The dates the school and the Consortium list are in the timetable below.
“Parents should contact the Registrar if they would like further details on the admissions procedure for international candidates.”Policy 6.2 gives the contact: “contact the Registrar on 020 8741 1936 or by email at registrar@godolphinandlatymer.com”.

For the 11+ test itself the policy says “Candidates should sit the test in their own junior schools wherever possible.” and, for a girl whose school does not offer it, “will be invited to sit the assessment at any Consortium school to which they have applied.” The Consortium’s FAQ has an entry for a girl abroad: “Your daughter is welcome to travel to sit the test in one of our schools and please indicate to us if she can do this. If you would prefer your daughter to sit the exam overseas, please contact the Admissions team at one of your Consortium schools to find out how to proceed.” Policy 8.2 gives this school’s own contact for international candidates: the Registrar.

The Consortium states the length of the sitting: “The exam is 100 minutes long (1 hour 40 minutes). There will be a 30-minute break in the middle.” Its list of the parts in order shows the break as “BREAK for up to 30 minutes”. Our arithmetic, not the Consortium’s: 100 minutes of testing plus a break of up to 30 minutes is up to 130 minutes (2 hours 10 minutes) from first question to last, before any set-up. The Consortium also states “The exam must start within a certain time frame within the day.” and “Candidates only sit the assessment once, irrespective of the number of Consortium Schools to which they are applying.”

On dates, the school’s 11+ Entry page lists the entrance exam as “Either Friday 27 November or Tuesday 1 December 2026”. The Consortium’s page lists “One of Friday 27th November, Tuesday 1st December or Thursday 3rd December 2026”. Policy 8.1 says “All entrance assessments must be taken at a time agreed with the Registrar.” Write to the Registrar, quote both pages and ask which date applies to your daughter’s sitting.

Which dates does the Timetable for 11+ Entry in 2027 give, row by row?

The rows follow the school’s 11+ Entry page for Year 7 entry in September 2027, which says “Girls must be born between: 1 September 2015 and 31 August 2016”. Check your own country’s year group with our which year group guide. Friday 6 November 2026 falls 28 days after Friday 9 October 2026, the day the sources were read: 22 more days of October and 6 of November. Where two linked pages give different dates for the same stage, as in the entrance-exam row, quote both to the Registrar and ask for the date in writing.

What do the noon deadlines read as in Dubai, Hong Kong and Singapore?

The registration, exam-form, bursary-form and acceptance deadlines are all set for noon. The table reads each as if noon is UK time. On all three dates the UK is on GMT, which is UTC+0: GOV.UK says “In the UK the clocks go forward 1 hour at 1am on the last Sunday in March, and back 1 hour at 2am on the last Sunday in October.” and gives 25 October 2026 for the clocks going back and 28 March 2027 for them going forward, and adds “When the clocks go back, the UK is on Greenwich Mean Time (GMT).” The offsets come from the IANA time zone database: Asia/Dubai is 4:00 ahead of UTC, and Asia/Hong_Kong and Asia/Singapore are 8:00 ahead.

Deadline, if noon is UK time UK clock Dubai/UAE (UTC+4) Hong Kong or Singapore (UTC+8) Working
Registration, exam form and music scholarship applications: noon, Friday 6 November 202612:00 GMT16:00, Friday 6 November 202620:00, Friday 6 November 202612:00 + 4 hours = 16:00; 12:00 + 8 hours = 20:00
Bursary application form: noon, Friday 13 November 202612:00 GMT16:00, Friday 13 November 202620:00, Friday 13 November 202612:00 + 4 hours = 16:00; 12:00 + 8 hours = 20:00
Acceptance: noon, Wednesday 3 March 2027 (the UK clocks go forward on 28 March 2027)12:00 GMT16:00, Wednesday 3 March 202720:00, Wednesday 3 March 202712:00 + 4 hours = 16:00; 12:00 + 8 hours = 20:00

Our arithmetic: a UK time of 16:00 GMT or later is already the next calendar day in Hong Kong and Singapore (16:00 + 8 hours = 24:00), and a UK time of 20:00 GMT or later is the next calendar day in Dubai/UAE (20:00 + 4 hours = 24:00). A Friday date in London can therefore be a Saturday date at home. Ask the Registrar in writing whether noon on Friday 6 November 2026 is London time. Our 11+ time zones guide sets out how the gaps change when the clocks move, and our guides for families in Dubai and the UAE, Hong Kong and Singapore cover each region.

What is due by 6 November 2026: the Registration Form, the fee and the Examination Entry Form?

Clause 11 of the Terms and Conditions says when a family counts as a candidate: “Applicants will be considered as candidates for Admission and Entry to the School when the Registration Form has been completed and returned to us, the non-returnable Registration Fee has been paid and the subsequent Examination Entry Form has been completed and returned to the School by the closing date.” The clause names the Registration Form, the fee and the Examination Entry Form in that order.

The school’s registration page adds: “Please be aware you cannot complete your online application without payment of the registration fee”. Its amount is set out on that page. The same page gives the returns terms: “You may cancel your registration up to 15 days from registering online. To do this please email registrar@godolphinandlatymer.com quoting the date of payment and the name of the person who made the payment. We will then issue a refund to you within 15 days of your request.” Policy 6.5.1 says “Applicants for admission at 11+/Year 7 should register by November of the year preceding the desired year of admission.”

The Examination Entry Form carries the requests for extra time: “Applicants who need extra time or other concessions for the entrance tests should fill in the relevant sections of the examination entry form, when this is issued in September/October, and should provide written evidence of their needs.” For a girl whose own school cannot host the exam, the Consortium says “If your daughter’s school does not offer this facility, the Consortium schools you apply to will ask you to indicate a 1st and 2nd choice Consortium exam centre when you apply.” Where a family abroad names the venue is a question for the Registrar. For the wider question of applying for Year 7 from abroad, see our applying for Year 7 from abroad guide.

The interview on Friday 15 January 2027 and the reference from her current Head

Policy 6.4 says “The School's admissions procedure has three elements: • entrance assessments; • interviews (for those selected); and • references.” Policy 6.6 says “Candidates who are successful in the entrance assessment will be invited to an interview to explore their abilities, attitudes to learning and interests.” The 11+ Entry page gives “Interviews: Friday 15 January 2027 (We are unable to offer an alternative date)”. The Consortium lists the school among those that “will select for interview from the assessment.”

The Consortium’s FAQ answers the question of preparation in its own words: “so your daughter does not need special tuition or intensive practice for this assessment.” and “We actively discourage preparation for the interview.” The format of the interview for a girl living abroad is a question for the Registrar; if the answer is a video interview, our video interviews guide covers what one involves.

The reference comes from her current school. Policy 6.7 says “The Head of the candidate's current school will be asked to provide a written reference as to the candidate's academic ability, attitude and behaviour, involvement in the School community, talents and interests, and any other relevant circumstances, including any special educational needs or disability.” The Consortium’s Code of Practice adds: “Each Consortium school to which a candidate applies will seek a reference separately from the Head of the candidate’s current school, prior to the entrance examination.”

Amazing tutors!

We arranged maths and English tuition ahead of GCSEs and both tutors were brilliant. My daughter's grades improved, and by results day she achieved two grades higher than in her mock exams.

Offers, the Acceptance Deposit and the 14-day cancellation clause

The timetable gives “Offers Friday 12 February 2027” and “Acceptance Deadline Noon on Wednesday 3 March 2027”. Policy 6.8 adds: “Offers of a place are conditional upon satisfactory completion of the admissions process, including receipt of a satisfactory reference and (where applicable) achievement of required academic standards.”

Policy 7.1 says “Parents will enter into a contract with the School on acceptance of a place”. Clause 1 of the Terms and Conditions says what forms the contract: “These Terms and Conditions reflect the custom and practice of independent schools and together with: i. the letter of offer; ii. the Conditions of Award if applicable; iii. the acceptance form; and iv. the fees list they form a legally binding contract between the School and the Parents for the provision of educational services.” Clause 4 says “The Parents and the Pupil have an opportunity, on request, to see any of the other documents referred to in these Terms and Conditions before they accept the offer of a place.” The copy linked here is marked “VWV [March] 2026”; which edition goes with a 2027 offer is a question for the Registrar.

On deposits, clause 13 says “A deposit (‘Acceptance Deposit’) as shown on the fees list for the relevant year will be payable when the Parents accept the offer of a place.” Clause 14 says “For reasons of administration, the right is reserved to require the Parents to pay an additional deposit (‘Additional Deposit’), as shown on the fees list for the relevant year, in circumstances where the Pupil's normal residence is outside the United Kingdom.” The school’s fees are on its fees page; no figure is repeated here.

Clause 97 covers an offer accepted from a distance. It says “If the offer of a place and its acceptance are both made entirely at distance by means of, for example, post or electronic communication without either of the Parents meeting face to face with a member of the School staff between offer and acceptance, the Parents have the right to cancel this contract at any time within 14 days of the day after We receive Your completed and signed acceptance form.” It adds: “attendance at in-person admissions events between offer and acceptance (including but not limited to open events, tours, taster days or offer holders’ events) will be treated as face-to-face contact between either of the Parents with a member of the School staff for these purposes” and “Information about the right to cancel and how to cancel is set out in the School's cancellation notice and form published on the School website.”

Clause 120 names the law that governs the contract: “This contract was made at The Godolphin and Latymer School and it, together with each matter relating to the provision of educational services by the School, is governed exclusively by the law of England and Wales and the parties submit to the non-exclusive jurisdiction of the Courts of England and Wales.” Policy 6.10 says parents “must disclose any information that is relevant to their child’s application and notify the School promptly of any material changes to information previously provided, including any new information that becomes known after registration and at any stage of the admissions process.” and Policy 6.11 says “Failure to disclose relevant information, or providing information that is inaccurate, incomplete or misleading, may result in the withdrawal of an offer of a place, including after an offer has been made or accepted.”

What do clauses 27 and 30 require: who she lives with, and the education guardian?

The school describes itself as “an academically selective independent day school for girls aged 11-18.” Clause 27 of the Terms and Conditions says “The Pupil is required during Term time and at weekends and half term to live with the Parents or with an education guardian acceptable to the School.” and “The Parents must immediately notify the Head in writing if the Pupil will be residing during Term time under the care of someone other than the Parents or her education guardian.”

Clause 30 is headed Education guardians: “The Parents, if resident outside the United Kingdom, must before Entry appoint an education guardian for the Pupil in the United Kingdom who has been given legal authority to act on behalf of the Parents in all respects and to whom the School can apply for authorities when necessary.” It continues: “The Parents shall, immediately on appointment, provide the School with up to date contact details for the Pupil's appointed education guardian and shall immediately notify the School of any changes to those details. The Parents shall upon request provide such further information to the School as it reasonably requires to satisfy itself that the proposed appointment and or arrangements are suitable.” and “The School accepts no responsibility for the Pupil when she is in the care of the Parents or her education guardian.” Clause 30 also says “The Parents or the Pupil's education guardian must make holiday arrangements, including travel to and from the School, well in advance.”

Clause 30 refers to Entry, and clause 11 defines it: “‘Entry’ occurs on the date when the Pupil attends the School for the first time under these Terms and Conditions.” Clause 104 says “104. Termination by the School: The School may terminate this contract:” and, at item iv, “immediately where after seven days from the School requesting that they do so Parents have not made arrangements which the School considers are suitable with an education guardian or accommodation provider; or”. Our educational guardians guide covers what a guardian does in general.

What do Policy 7.3 and Clause 15 say about the right to live and study?

Policy 7.3 says “All candidates must have the legal right to live and study in the UK.” Clause 15 of the Terms and Conditions is headed Immigration, and reads in full: “The School does not hold a Child Student sponsor licence. The Parents must inform the Head when returning a completed registration form or at any other time if their child does not have the right to live and study in the United Kingdom. It shall be the Parents' responsibility at all times to ensure that their child has the appropriate immigration permission to live in the United Kingdom and to study at the School. Please also see clause 104.”

Clause 104, item iii, lists a further ground after “The School may terminate this contract:”: “immediately where the Pupil does not have the appropriate immigration permission to live in the United Kingdom and to study at the School; or”. GOV.UK’s page on the Child Student visa says: “You must have an unconditional offer of a place on a course with a licensed Child Student sponsor.” For how the Child Student route works, see our Child Student visa guide.

The family’s own immigration basis is a written question for the Registrar, not something these quotations settle: what permission will she hold on the first day of term (Friday 3 September 2027, per the term-dates PDF) or her Year 7 first day if the Registrar gives a different date, what evidence does the Registrar need, and by when?

Before term starts: late May, June and Friday 3 September 2027

The Settling in page says “All girls who accept a place are invited to spend the day at Godolphin in late May” and describes a Parents and Girls Welcome Evening in June. The term-dates PDF gives, under AUTUMN TERM 2027: “Staff INSET: Wednesday 1 September, Thursday 2 September”, “Term starts: Friday 3 September”, “Half Term: Monday 18 October - Friday 29 October” and “Term Ends: Tuesday 14 December (12pm)”. The Settling in page also has a section headed “Year 7 First Day at School”; which date is her Year 7 first day is a question for the Registrar.

Questions to put to the Registrar in writing about your own case

Policy 6.2 gives the contact: “contact the Registrar on 020 8741 1936 or by email at registrar@godolphinandlatymer.com”. Start each email with your daughter’s name, date of birth, country of residence and current school, then ask:

  1. Can her current school, or a British Council office, sit her entrance assessment on a date and at a start time you agree with us, with an exam-ready laptop or other institutional device? (Policy 8.1)
  2. Which date applies to her sitting, given that the school’s page and the Consortium’s page list the entrance exam dates differently? (11+ Entry; Consortium)
  3. What UK start time will her sitting have, and is noon on Friday 6 November 2026 London time for the registration and exam-form deadlines?
  4. What are the additional costs of her sitting abroad, who invoices them, and when are they due? (Policy 8.1)
  5. Does the 15-day cancellation refund apply to the Registration Fee the Terms and Conditions call non-returnable? (registration page; clause 11)
  6. In what form will her interview on Friday 15 January 2027 be held, given that she lives abroad? (11+ Entry)
  7. In what form should her current Head’s reference reach you, and to whom is it sent? (Policy 6.7; Consortium)
  8. Her normal residence is outside the United Kingdom: does the Additional Deposit in clause 14 apply to her, and where do we see the fees list it refers to? (Terms and Conditions)
  9. Our offer and acceptance would be made entirely at a distance: how does the school apply clause 97 to a family abroad? (Terms and Conditions)
  10. Who will be her education guardian, and when must the guardian’s details reach the school: at acceptance on Wednesday 3 March 2027, or before Entry? (clauses 27 and 30)
  11. What immigration permission will she hold on the first day of term (Friday 3 September 2027, per the term-dates PDF) or her Year 7 first day if the Registrar gives a different date, what evidence of her right to live and study in the UK do you need, and by when? (Policy 7.3; clauses 15 and 104)
  12. On what date is our daughter’s Year 7 first day, and does it differ from the first day of Autumn Term 2027 in the term-dates PDF? (Term dates 2027-28; Settling in at Year 7)
  13. Which edition of the Terms and Conditions comes with our offer, and may we see the cancellation notice and the fees list before we accept? (clauses 1 and 4)
  14. If our address or circumstances change between registration and Entry, how do we tell you? (Policy 6.10)

Frequently Asked Questions

Can my daughter sit the Godolphin and Latymer entrance assessment at home abroad?

No. Policy 8.1 says “Candidates may not sit the entrance assessment at home.” International candidates “can usually (by prior agreement) make arrangements with their current school or the British Council to administer the entrance assessment”, and “All entrance assessments must be taken at a time agreed with the Registrar.” Contact the Registrar (Policy 6.2 gives 020 8741 1936 and registrar@godolphinandlatymer.com) before registration closes at noon on Friday 6 November 2026, and name the venue and date you propose.

Which dates can a girl abroad sit the Godolphin and Latymer entrance exam for September 2027 entry?

The school’s 11+ Entry page lists “Either Friday 27 November or Tuesday 1 December 2026”. The Consortium’s page lists “One of Friday 27th November, Tuesday 1st December or Thursday 3rd December 2026”. Policy 8.1 says “All entrance assessments must be taken at a time agreed with the Registrar.” Write to the Registrar, quote both pages, and ask which date applies to your daughter’s sitting.

Do we have to fly to London for the Godolphin and Latymer interview?

The 11+ Entry page lists “Interviews: Friday 15 January 2027 (We are unable to offer an alternative date)”. Policy 6.6 says “Candidates who are successful in the entrance assessment will be invited to an interview”, and the Consortium lists the school among those that “will select for interview from the assessment.” How the interview is held for a girl living abroad is a question for the Registrar, to ask in writing before flights are booked.

Does Godolphin and Latymer sponsor a Child Student visa?

Clause 15 of the Terms and Conditions begins “The School does not hold a Child Student sponsor licence.” It continues “The Parents must inform the Head when returning a completed registration form or at any other time if their child does not have the right to live and study in the United Kingdom.” Policy 7.3 says “All candidates must have the legal right to live and study in the UK.” Tell the Registrar in writing what immigration permission your daughter holds, or will hold on the first day of term (Friday 3 September 2027, per the term-dates PDF) or her Year 7 first day if the Registrar gives a different date, and ask what evidence is needed and by when.

What time does the 6 November 2026 deadline close in Dubai, Hong Kong or Singapore?

The school’s deadline is “Noon on Friday 6 November 2026”. If noon is UK time, the UK is on GMT (UTC+0) on that date, so the deadline falls at 16:00 on Friday 6 November in Dubai/UAE (UTC+4) and at 20:00 on Friday 6 November in Hong Kong and Singapore (UTC+8): 12:00 + 4 hours = 16:00, and 12:00 + 8 hours = 20:00. Ask the Registrar to confirm in writing that the school means London time.
