DfE's revised 2024/25 A-level Mathematics value added for 17 Ealing institutions, each with its 95% interval and number of entries.
Book a Free ConsultationLeading Tuition's A-level maths tutors are expert one-to-one online teachers for Ealing sixth-formers, and DfE's revised 2024/25 data scores 17 Ealing institutions on A-level Mathematics value added, with seven clear of zero (four above, three below). Scores run from 0.80 on 53 entries at Drayton Manor High School to -1.42 on 26 at Alec Reed Academy, each with a 95% interval.
The score is a measure of one institution's maths students in one year. It is not a grade and not a forecast for a new student, which is why every figure below carries its interval and its number of entries.
Our expert A-level maths tutors help sixth-formers across Ealing, one-to-one and online, with the pure papers and the statistics and mechanics paper, whichever exam board their sixth form enters.
Book a Free Consultation Message us on WhatsAppDfE's data set "Schools and colleges - qualification and subject value added" gives, for each institution, a Value added figure for a subject, a Lower confidence interval, an Upper confidence interval and a Number of entries. This page reads the Mathematics rows for the GCE A level qualification and the A level cohort, for 2024/25, for every institution whose DfE code begins 307, the code for Ealing local authority. DfE returned 19 rows. Seventeen carry a score and two carry the letter c.
The release is DfE's revised 2024/25 publication, published on 23 April 2026. DfE's methodology page says the letter c means confidential, and Ada Lovelace Church of England High School and St Augustine's Priory are the two Ealing institutions returned that way. Nothing is read into that here.
DfE publishes each score with a 95% interval, and the interval is the part to read first. A score is only treated as a finding here when its own 95% interval lies entirely above or entirely below zero. A gap between two institutions' point estimates is never treated as a finding, because the intervals overlap heavily.
Two limits come with the number of entries. First, DfE counts entries, which differ from the number of students and from the subjects-entered counts shown elsewhere, so the figure cannot be turned into "how many students take maths". Second, DfE publishes no average grade for an individual A-level subject, so none appears on this page.
Seven of the 17 scored institutions have an interval that does not touch zero. The tables list institutions in alphabetical order, not by score, and the last column repeats DfE's Compare row for each school so the two DfE measures sit side by side.
| Institution | Value added | 95% interval (lower to upper) | Number of entries | Interval against zero | Achieving advanced level maths qualifications (Compare row, school column) |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Drayton Manor High School | 0.80 | 0.47 to 1.13 | 53 | Above zero | 46.4% |
| Featherstone High School | 0.72 | 0.39 to 1.05 | 52 | Above zero | 31.2% |
| The Cardinal Wiseman Catholic School | 0.39 | 0.12 to 0.65 | 83 | Above zero | 38.2% |
| Villiers High School | 0.45 | 0.05 to 0.84 | 37 | Above zero | 34.6% |
Drayton Manor High School has the widest interval of the four, 0.47 to 1.13, a width of 0.66, on 53 entries. The Cardinal Wiseman Catholic School has the most entries of the four, 83, and an interval of 0.12 to 0.65 around its score of 0.39.
| Institution | Value added | 95% interval (lower to upper) | Number of entries | Interval against zero | Achieving advanced level maths qualifications (Compare row, school column) |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Alec Reed Academy | -1.42 | -1.89 to -0.94 | 26 | Below zero | 24.4% |
| Ealing Independent College | -0.85 | -1.23 to -0.46 | 39 | Below zero | 44.9% |
| William Perkin Church of England High School | -0.42 | -0.65 to -0.19 | 108 | Below zero | 61.8% |
William Perkin Church of England High School has 108 entries and an interval of -0.65 to -0.19. Ealing Independent College has 39 entries and Alec Reed Academy has 26. A below-zero interval describes how a group of students did against the national comparison in 2024/25. It does not say why, and it does not say what a student starting there in a later year will do.

| Institution | Value added | 95% interval (lower to upper) | Number of entries | Interval against zero | Achieving advanced level maths qualifications (Compare row, school column) |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Ark Acton Academy | -0.19 | -0.68 to 0.30 | 24 | Includes zero | 32.3% |
| Brentside High School | 0.13 | -0.28 to 0.54 | 34 | Includes zero | 27.7% |
| Dormers Wells High School | 0.10 | -0.20 to 0.40 | 65 | Includes zero | 45.1% |
| Elthorne Park High School | 0.17 | -0.14 to 0.47 | 61 | Includes zero | 34.3% |
| Greenford High School | -0.15 | -0.39 to 0.08 | 105 | Includes zero | 40.9% |
| Islip Manor High School | -0.45 | -1.30 to 0.40 | 8 | Includes zero | 16.7% |
| Notting Hill & Ealing High School GDST | -0.16 | -0.56 to 0.23 | 37 | Includes zero | 53.5% |
| St Benedict's School | 0.19 | -0.17 to 0.56 | 43 | Includes zero | 45.3% |
| The Ellen Wilkinson School for Girls | -0.20 | -0.65 to 0.25 | 29 | Includes zero | 31.1% |
| Twyford Church of England High School | 0.01 | -0.18 to 0.20 | 160 | Includes zero | 54.1% |
Interval width follows the number of entries. Twyford Church of England High School has 160 entries, the largest cohort in the Ealing table, and an interval of -0.18 to 0.20, a width of 0.38. Islip Manor High School has 8 entries and an interval of -1.30 to 0.40, a width of 1.70. The cohort size is noted for scale only: a score on 8 entries describes 8 entries.
Four institutions on this page have fewer than 30 entries: Alec Reed Academy with 26, Ark Acton Academy with 24, The Ellen Wilkinson School for Girls with 29 and Islip Manor High School with 8. Read their scores as small-group figures.
The final column of each table is a different DfE measure. DfE's Compare service for 16 to 18 shows a row labelled "Achieving advanced level maths qualifications" on each school's advanced level qualifications page, with three columns: School / college, Local authority and England. For Ealing's schools the local authority column reads 40.7% and the England column reads 30.0%, on all 19 school pages read for this page.
The school column runs from 16.7% to 61.8% across the 17 scored institutions. St Augustine's Priory, which has no published value-added figure, shows 17.6% on its Compare page, and Ada Lovelace Church of England High School's cell is marked SUPP by DfE. The Compare page's own help text for this row does not define what it counts, so this page reports the percentage as DfE words it and infers nothing further from it.
The two measures are published separately in different DfE services. Value added carries an interval and a number of entries. The Compare row shows a percentage and two comparators. A reader should hold each one to what its own label says.
My son was low in confidence after COVID and the gaps in learning were building up. Using this service helped plug those gaps, rebuild confidence, and improve his ability to learn properly again.
We arranged maths and English tuition ahead of GCSEs and both tutors were brilliant. My daughter's grades improved, and by results day she achieved two grades higher than in her mock exams.
I attended an English bootcamp with Leading Tuition and the experience was excellent. The teacher gave focused attention to the small group while keeping the lessons interactive and engaging.
The step from GCSE to A-level maths is where entry requirements bite, and each Ealing provider writes its own. Three published documents are quoted here, and each statement is about that provider only.
The bar differs between these providers: Grade 7 at Twyford, a strong Grade 6 at Elthorne Park. Our expert A-level maths tutors work with students on the step from GCSE to A level from the start of Year 12, one-to-one and online. Families should read the current course guide of the sixth form they apply to for its own requirement.
Heading into Year 12 maths at an Ealing sixth form? Our expert A-level maths tutors help students make the step up from GCSE, one-to-one and online, with a plan that follows the exam board's papers.
Book a Free Consultation Message us on WhatsAppPearson's Edexcel A level Mathematics specification (9MA0) is the board Ealing Independent College names. It has three papers, each a 2-hour written examination worth 33.33% of the qualification and 100 marks. Paper 1 is Pure Mathematics 1, Paper 2 is Pure Mathematics 2, and Paper 3 is Statistics and Mechanics. Two of the three papers are therefore pure maths, and the third splits statistics from mechanics.
That structure shapes how our expert A-level maths tutors plan. Pure topics return in two separate papers, so they are revisited in different forms across Year 12 and Year 13. Statistics and mechanics are taught as their own strand and tested together in Paper 3. Each student's plan starts from their own sixth form's scheme of work and their latest mock paper, and sessions are one-to-one and online.
Leading Tuition reports that 91% of its students achieve their desired grades, and it is rated 4.8 out of 5 on Trustpilot from 59 reviews, read on 3 October 2026. For Further Maths students, see our A-level Further Maths page, and for the wider offer, A-level tuition and our Ealing tuition page.
They cannot say which sixth form is right for a particular student, because a score describes a group of students in 2024/25 and not the teaching a new student will meet. It is a progress measure for a group of students, not a judgement of how well any one teacher taught. They cannot say how many students at a school take maths, because DfE counts entries. They cannot give a grade, because DfE publishes no average grade for an individual A-level subject. And they cannot compare a school with another school on point estimates alone, because ten of the 17 intervals include zero.
What they can do is stop a family reading a headline score for the whole sixth form as if it were a maths score. DfE publishes this Mathematics-specific figure separately, for 2024/25, at institution level. The official source is DfE's 16 to 19 performance release for 2024/25, and the figures above were read from DfE's statistics API on 31 October 2026.
DfE's Mathematics value added for Drayton Manor High School in 2024/25 is 0.80, with a 95% interval of 0.47 to 1.13 on 53 entries. The whole interval lies above zero, which is one of seven Ealing results that clears zero. It describes that institution's students in that year. It is not a grade, and it does not predict what a new student at any school will achieve.
DfE returned the letter c for the A-level Mathematics value added of Ada Lovelace Church of England High School and St Augustine's Priory. DfE's methodology says c stands for confidential, so no figure is published for either. This page names them only as suppressed under that convention and reads nothing into the omission. The other 17 Ealing institutions carry a score, an interval and a number of entries.
No. For Twyford Church of England High School the 2024/25 score is 0.01, with an interval of -0.18 to 0.20 on 160 entries, and the interval includes zero. That means DfE's figures cannot separate the score from zero. It is not a verdict in either direction, and ten of the 17 scored Ealing institutions sit in that position.
Each sixth form sets its own bar, and this page quotes only the three it read. Twyford Church of England High School states Grade 7 at GCSE for Maths in its Entry 2026 course guide. Elthorne Park High School's September 2027 booklet states a strong Grade 6 for A Level Mathematics and Grade 7 for the Further course. Families should read the current course guide of the sixth form they are applying to.
Pearson's Edexcel A level Mathematics (9MA0) has three papers. Paper 1 and Paper 2 are Pure Mathematics, and Paper 3 is Statistics and Mechanics. Each is a 2-hour written examination worth 33.33% of the qualification, with 100 marks. Ealing Independent College lists Edexcel 9MA0 for its A Level Mathematics course with 100% of the grade from the exam, so a tutor can plan around the three papers.
No. They come from DfE's revised 2024/25 release, published on 23 April 2026 and last updated on 24 July 2026. The data set on DfE's statistics API is version 1.0.1 and holds 101,979 rows for 2024/25. After DfE's provisional release, schools and colleges amended their data through a checking exercise, and this revised release is built on that amended data.
