DfE's provisional summer 2026 GCSE maths grades for 22 Enfield schools, and the grade target each year group points to.
Book a Free ConsultationLeading Tuition's GCSE maths tutors are expert one-to-one online teachers who set each Enfield pupil's grade target from the pupil's own school, because DfE's provisional summer 2026 figures put grade 4 or above at between 46% of entries (AIM Academy North London) and 100% (The Latymer School) across 22 Enfield schools.
Enfield means the London borough, DfE's local authority 308. In summer 2026 these 22 schools made 3,869 GCSE (9-1) maths entries, 2,763 of them at grade 4 or above (71.4%). The borough total hides the real decision: a pupil at Wren Academy Enfield sits in a year group where 161 of 183 entries reached grade 4, and a pupil at Edmonton County School sits in one where 166 of 266 did.
Our expert GCSE maths tutors help pupils across Enfield, one-to-one online, whether the target is a first grade 4 or a grade 7, with each programme built around the pupil's own school, tier and exam board.
Book a Free Consultation Message us on WhatsAppThe table lists every Enfield school that DfE's GCSE (9-1) full-course maths table shows with 30 or more entries, ordered by the share at grade 4 or above. Counts come first and the share of that school's own entries sits in brackets, so the cohort size is always beside the percentage.

The spread is wide. Grade 4 or above runs from 46% to 100%, a gap of 54 percentage points, and grade 7 or above runs from 6% at The Lea Valley Academy (8 of 138 entries) to 98% at The Latymer School (187 of 190). That is why this page does not hand a parent a borough average: the same tutoring plan cannot be right for a year group where 100 entries finished below grade 4 and one where 0 did.
Grouping the 22 schools by their grade 4 or above share shows four different jobs for a tutor. The groupings are ours and describe only the figures, not the schools' teaching or intake.
The Latymer School, St John's Preparatory and Senior School, Wren Academy Enfield, Highlands School, St Ignatius College, Enfield County School for Girls, St Anne's Catholic High School for Girls, Southgate School make up the band. In this band the question is rarely whether a pupil reaches a 4. At Highlands School, 169 of 237 entries reached grade 5 or above (71%) and 66 reached grade 7 or above (28%). At St Ignatius College the figures are 112 (71%) at grade 5 or above and 77 (49%) at grade 7 or above, from 157 entries. Pupils in this band are mostly working towards grades 6, 7 and above rather than towards a first 4.
The two girls' schools show a different shape. Enfield County School for Girls had 181 entries with 82% at grade 4 or above but 60% at grade 5 or above and 24% at grade 7 or above, and St Anne's Catholic High School for Girls had 176 entries with 81%, 60% and 24% at the same three marks. A family at either school is looking at a year group where 41 and 37 entries respectively ended exactly on grade 4, so the target for those pupils is often the move from a 4 to a 5 or 6.
Two schools in the band need a note on cohort size. The Latymer School's 190 entries include 187 at grade 7 or above (98%), and St John's Preparatory and Senior School's 47 entries include 24 at grade 7 or above (51%). Both are real figures from DfE's table; this page does not attach a reason to either, and each reader should weigh a 47-entry school differently from a 190-entry one.
Winchmore School, Ark John Keats Academy, Kingsmead School, Enfield Grammar School sit in this band. Winchmore School is the clearest case of a large middle: of its 234 entries, 78% reached grade 4 or above but only 51% reached grade 5 or above, with 62 entries ending exactly on grade 4, the largest single count among the 22 schools. Kingsmead School follows with 54 entries exactly on grade 4 out of 242. For these pupils the useful target is grade 5.
Ark John Keats Academy (176 entries, 73% at grade 4 or above, 59% at grade 5 or above) and Enfield Grammar School (179 entries, 70% and 55%) show smaller gaps between those two marks, and 47 and 53 entries respectively finished below grade 4. At that scale the tutoring effort splits into two jobs: closing the last marks for the pupils just under a 4, and moving a grade 4 pupil to a 5.
Our expert GCSE maths tutors help pupils across Enfield move from a grade 4 to a grade 5 or 6, with one-to-one online sessions built on mock papers from the exam board the pupil sits.
Book a Free Consultation Message us on WhatsAppChace Community School, Bishop Stopford's School, Edmonton County School, Heron Hall Academy, Oasis Academy Enfield, Oasis Academy Hadley, Lift Aylward fall in this band. This is the largest band by pupils below grade 4. Edmonton County School had 266 entries and 100 below grade 4; Lift Aylward had 221 entries and 99 below; Heron Hall Academy had 223 entries and 91 below. In these year groups a pupil who finishes on grade 3 faces the post-16 rule explained below, so the plan starts from the marks that decide whether grade 4 is reached at the first sitting.
The two Oasis academies are a useful pair because they are close in size and result. Oasis Academy Enfield had 137 entries, 80 at grade 4 or above (58%) and 15 at grade 7 or above; Oasis Academy Hadley had 167 entries, 95 at grade 4 or above (57%) and 22 at grade 7 or above. Bishop Stopford's School and Chace Community School both sit at 64%, from 105 and 145 entries.
The Lea Valley Academy had 138 entries and 51% at grade 4 or above; Laurel Park School had 127 entries and 50%; AIM Academy North London had 105 entries and 46%. In The Lea Valley Academy's year group the fall from grade 4 or above to grade 5 or above is steep, from 51% to 25%, and 36 of its entries ended exactly on grade 4. A tutor for a pupil in this band starts with the foundations that carry across all three AQA papers, because each paper is 80 marks and a pupil who drops marks on arithmetic and algebra drops them on every paper.
Percentages hide the pupils a tutor can actually move. Summed across the 22 schools, 1106 entries finished below grade 4 and 71.4% of entries reached grade 4 or above, against 54.0% at grade 5 or above: a gap of 17.4 percentage points that is the grade 4 band itself.
The three largest below-grade-4 counts are Edmonton County School (100 of 266), Lift Aylward (99 of 221), Heron Hall Academy (91 of 223). The three largest counts of entries ending exactly on grade 4 are Winchmore School (62 of 234), Edmonton County School (60 of 266), Kingsmead School (54 of 242). Those are the year groups where a pupil one or two marks either side of a boundary is most common, and where a short, targeted programme of marked past papers tends to matter most.
The fall from grade 4 to grade 5 is steepest at Winchmore School, where the share drops from 78% at grade 4 or above to 51% at grade 5 or above; at The Lea Valley Academy it drops from 51% to 25%, and at Bishop Stopford's School from 64% to 39%. In each of these a grade 5 is a much larger step than a grade 4, so a parent aiming for a strong pass is asking more of the child than a parent aiming for a pass.
DfE also counts pupils at the end of key stage 4 beside each school's entries. At Wren Academy Enfield that is 184 pupils against 183 entries, and at Winchmore School 239 pupils against 234 entries, so the entries column is a close but not exact picture of the year group.
Our expert GCSE maths tutors help Enfield pupils whose results sit on a boundary, with one-to-one online sessions that work through the pupil's own past papers and mark them against the real mark scheme.
Book a Free Consultation Message us on WhatsAppThe 1106 entries below grade 4 across these 22 schools are not the end of a pupil's maths. DfE's 16 to 19 funding guidance, last updated on 24 July 2026, says students with a GCSE grade 3 must study towards a GCSE, while students with a GCSE grade 2 or below may study towards either a GCSE or Functional Skills level 2. The same guidance is aimed at 16- to 19-year-olds on study programmes without GCSE maths and English grade 4 or above.
Spring and summer are not the only sittings. AQA's GCSE exams are offered in May/June and November, and its specification says November entries will only be available to students who were at least 16 on the previous 31 August. The summer sitting is the one we plan a programme around, with November as the second chance for a pupil who finishes Year 11 below grade 4. Our guide to Foundation or Higher tier for a maths resit covers the second attempt.
My son was low in confidence after COVID and the gaps in learning were building up. Using this service helped plug those gaps, rebuild confidence, and improve his ability to learn properly again.
We arranged maths and English tuition ahead of GCSEs and both tutors were brilliant. My daughter's grades improved, and by results day she achieved two grades higher than in her mock exams.
I attended an English bootcamp with Leading Tuition and the experience was excellent. The teacher gave focused attention to the small group while keeping the lessons interactive and engaging.
AQA GCSE Mathematics (8300) has 3 papers of 80 marks each, for a total scaled mark of 240, according to the board's scheme of assessment. All three papers carry equal weight. Which board each Enfield school enters is a question for the school; AQA, Pearson Edexcel and OCR each publish their own specification, and our GCSE maths tuition page covers them.
AQA weights its three assessment objectives differently by tier. On the Foundation tier the weights are 50% for AO1, 25% for AO2 and 25% for AO3. On the Higher tier they are 40%, 30% and 30%. AO2 and AO3 together therefore carry 50% of the marks on the Foundation tier and 60% on the Higher tier, so the tutoring for a grade 7 target leans more on the second and third objectives than the tutoring for a first grade 4.
In practice this means a tutor working with a pupil entered at Higher tier toward a grade 7 spends more of the time on AO2 and AO3 marks, which make up 60% of the Higher tier, while a tutor working with a pupil securing a first grade 4 spends more on AO1 marks, which make up 50% of the Foundation tier and 40% of the Higher tier, whichever school the pupil attends. The tier a pupil is entered for is decided by the school, so a tutor confirms the entry with the family before setting a target grade.
DfE's GCSE full-course table lists 30 Enfield schools for maths. This page compares the 22 with 30 or more entries. The other eight are named only by their DfE entry count: Palmers Green High School (26), Focus 1st Academy (8), Silverways School (6), Durants School (3), Alternative Centre of Education (2), Fern House School (2), Oaktree School (2), West Lea School (2). DfE shows no grade breakdown for Alternative Centre of Education, Durants School, Fern House School, Oaktree School or West Lea School, only their entry counts, so they cannot be placed in the table.
The release is provisional. DfE says its 2025/26 key stage 4 data is based on results data that awarding organisations supply to the department, and that the school and college checking exercises ran in June 2026 and Autumn 2026. This page reads version 2.0 of DfE's subject school level exam data, published on 15 October 2026, and was built on 31 October 2026.
Three limits apply to every figure above. These are grade counts, not a measure of what a school added: DfE publishes no Progress 8 for the 2024/25 or 2025/26 key stage 4 cohorts, so no progress figure sits beside any school here. Entries are not pupils, as the Wren Academy Enfield and Winchmore School counts above show. And a share from a small cohort moves with every pupil: one pupil is worth 2.1 percentage points at St John's Preparatory and Senior School and 0.5 at The Latymer School.
Sessions are one-to-one online with a shared whiteboard. The tutor begins with a short diagnostic on the pupil's own exam board's paper, sets a target grade from the pupil's school row in the table above, then works through that pupil's past papers and marks them against the real mark scheme. Parents receive session notes after each lesson, and progress is reviewed against the target grade rather than against the school's typical result.
Our expert GCSE maths tutors teach the full AQA, Edexcel and OCR content for both tiers. 91% of our students achieve their desired grades, a first-party figure for all Leading Tuition students and not an Enfield figure. For a pupil at Kingsmead School, where 73% of 242 entries reached grade 4 or above and 51 reached grade 7 or above, the same method applies as for a pupil at Highlands School: diagnose, mark, re-sit the weakest topic, and review. Our Enfield tuition page lists the other subjects and levels we teach, and our Barnet GCSE maths page reads the same DfE table for the neighbouring borough.
Our expert GCSE maths tutors help pupils across Enfield at both Foundation and Higher tier, with a one-to-one online plan built around the pupil's own school and target grade.
Book a Free Consultation Message us on WhatsAppThe Latymer School, where all 190 of its entries reached grade 4 or above, according to DfE's provisional summer 2026 table. St John's Preparatory and Senior School follows with 46 of 47 entries (98%), and Wren Academy Enfield with 161 of 183 (88%). Cohort size matters when reading these: one pupil moves the St John's share by about 2 points, while one pupil moves a 190-entry school by about half a point. The table above gives all 22 schools with 30 or more entries.
Across the 22 Enfield schools with 30 or more entries, 2,763 of 3,869 entries (71.4%) reached grade 4 or above, 2,090 (54.0%) reached grade 5 or above and 996 (25.7%) reached grade 7 or above, in DfE's provisional summer 2026 data. These are entries rather than pupils, and the borough total is our own sum of the school rows, not a DfE borough figure. The school range matters more: 46% at AIM Academy North London to 100% at The Latymer School.
No. DfE's 2025/26 key stage 4 release says its data is provisional, and the school and college checking exercises ran in June 2026 and Autumn 2026. The grade counts on this page come from version 2.0 of DfE's 'Subject school level exam data', published on 15 October 2026, so a school's counts can still change when approved amendments are applied. We read the data on 31 October 2026 and name every school's entries beside its percentages.
DfE's 16 to 19 funding guidance says students with GCSE maths grade 3 must study towards a GCSE, while students with grade 2 or below may study towards either a GCSE or Functional Skills level 2. Across the 22 Enfield schools, 1,106 summer 2026 entries finished below grade 4. AQA offers a November sitting only to students who were at least 16 on the previous 31 August, and the summer sitting is the one we plan a programme around.
No. Every session is one-to-one and online with a shared whiteboard, so a pupil at Southgate School, Winchmore School or any of the other 22 schools in the table joins from home. The tutor works on the pupil's own past papers and marks them against the real mark scheme, and parents receive session notes after each lesson. The grade target comes from the pupil's school row in the table: for example 81% at grade 4 or above at Southgate School, from 233 entries.
AQA GCSE Mathematics (8300) has 3 papers of 80 marks each, giving a total scaled mark of 240. On the Foundation tier AQA weights assessment objectives AO1, AO2 and AO3 at 50%, 25% and 25%; on the Higher tier the weights are 40%, 30% and 30%. AO2 and AO3 together carry 50% of the marks on Foundation and 60% on Higher, so a pupil aiming for grade 7 or above leans on those two objectives more.
DfE's GCSE full-course table lists 30 Enfield schools for maths, and 22 have 30 or more entries, so the other eight are named only by their entry count: Palmers Green High School (26), Focus 1st Academy (8), Silverways School (6), Durants School (3), and Alternative Centre of Education, Fern House School, Oaktree School and West Lea School (2 each). A share calculated from 26 entries or fewer says little about a school's teaching, so we do not rank them.
