How many pupils at each Ealing school sit the separate Chemistry GCSE?

DfE's school-level GCSE full-course table lists 20 Ealing schools with separate GCSE (9-1) Chemistry entries in summer 2026. 15 of them have 30 or more entries and are tabled here; the other five, with their entries, are Alec Reed Academy (20), Ark Acton Academy (14), Ark Soane Academy (7), Ayesha Siddiqa Girls School (3), Ealing Independent College (3). The 15 tabled schools made 836 entries between them, against combined cohorts of 3320 pupils.

An entry is not a pupil, and a cohort is not the number who study Chemistry. These rows count the separate GCSE in Chemistry. Pupils who take Combined Science sit a different qualification, which DfE records as its own subject and not in these rows, so no school's whole year group should be read into the Chemistry count. Each figure below is DfE's own count; the two columns are set side by side and nothing is divided.

The Cardinal Wiseman Catholic School has the most Chemistry entries, 95, from a cohort of 303. Dormers Wells High School follows with 86 from 244, and Elthorne Park High School has 69 from 240. At the other end of the tabled schools, Featherstone High School has 31 entries from a cohort of 278, and Brentside High School has 40 from 273. Ealing Fields Church of England High School has 40 entries from a cohort of 151. St Augustine's Priory has 36 from 74.

For a parent, the practical point is which group of pupils the school's grade counts describe. At Brentside High School the 40 entries are a subset of 273 pupils, so the counts below describe the pupils entered for the separate GCSE, not the year group. Our expert Chemistry tutors work from the pupil's own papers either way; the counts show what the entered group at the child's school achieved.

What grades did the separate Chemistry entries earn at each school?

DfE publishes one row per grade for every school. The table puts those rows side by side: grades 9 to 1, then U for ungraded and X for absent or pending. Where DfE shows a blank cell, the grades, U and X still add to the school's total entries, so a blank is a zero. Every row below adds up to its entries column.

Grade 4 and above against grade 7 and above

The two counts in the table below are our own sums of DfE's grade rows: grade 4 and above adds grades 4 to 9, and grade 7 and above adds grades 7 to 9. The sums are not DfE figures. The percentage is the sum divided by the school's entries, rounded to a whole number, with the entries beside it.

Of the 15 schools, eight have every separate Chemistry entry at grade 4 or above: Ada Lovelace Church of England High School, Brentside High School, Ealing Fields Church of England High School, Featherstone High School, The Cardinal Wiseman Catholic School, Twyford Church of England High School, Villiers High School, William Perkin Church of England High School. They made 427 entries between them. Across all 15 schools, 813 of 836 entries reached grade 4 or above and 23 did not; 513 reached grade 7 or above.

Below the eight, the share at grade 4 and above is 96% at Greenford High School (52 of 54), 98% at Drayton Manor High School, 98% at Dormers Wells High School, 92% at St Augustine's Priory and 77% at Islip Manor High School (44 of 57). Islip Manor has the lowest share at grade 4 and above among the 15 tabled schools, with 13 of its 57 entries below grade 4.

At the top of the scale the order changes. Ealing Fields Church of England High School has 38 of its 40 entries at grade 7 or above, and Ada Lovelace Church of England High School has 50 of 56. Brentside High School has 13 of 40, although all 40 also reached grade 4. Two schools with the same count at grade 4 can therefore sit a long way apart at grade 7. The share at grade 7 or above runs from 21% at Islip Manor High School to 95% at Ealing Fields Church of England High School.

GIAS, the Department for Education's register of schools, records an admissions policy of Non-selective for Brentside High School, Featherstone High School, Villiers High School, The Cardinal Wiseman Catholic School, Twyford Church of England High School, William Perkin Church of England High School, Ada Lovelace Church of England High School. It records St Augustine's Priory as an Other independent school with a Selective admissions policy. Those are the register's own fields and are quoted as they stand; they do not explain any school's counts, and nothing is inferred from them about who sits Chemistry.

Our Ealing GCSE Chemistry tutors teach one pupil at a time, online, working through the child's own past papers for the AQA, Pearson Edexcel or OCR specification their school enters.

What the counts at each of the 15 schools mean for a first Chemistry lesson

A school's counts describe the group of pupils entered for the separate GCSE at that school in summer 2026. They do not describe one child. What they give an expert tutor is a starting picture of where marks are won and lost at the child's school, to be checked against the child's own latest mock. Each note below uses only the school's own rows, and the sums are ours.

Ada Lovelace Church of England High School. DfE records 56 separate GCSE Chemistry entries against a cohort of 193 pupils at the end of Key Stage 4. Counting grades 4 to 9, 56 entries reached grade 4 or above; counting grades 7 to 9, 50 did. Every entry reached grade 4, and 50 of the 56 finished on grades 7 to 9 against 6 on grades 4 to 6, so the first diagnostic looks at what separates a 7 from an 8 or 9, with 14 entries on grade 9 and 24 on grade 8.

Brentside High School. DfE records 40 separate GCSE Chemistry entries against a cohort of 273 pupils at the end of Key Stage 4. Counting grades 4 to 9, 40 entries reached grade 4 or above; counting grades 7 to 9, 13 did. Every entry reached grade 4, and 27 of the 40 finished on grades 4 to 6 against 13 on grades 7 to 9, so for most pupils here the work is on lifting a grade 5 or 6 paper towards 7 rather than on reaching a 4.

Dormers Wells High School. DfE records 86 separate GCSE Chemistry entries against a cohort of 244 pupils at the end of Key Stage 4. Counting grades 4 to 9, 84 entries reached grade 4 or above; counting grades 7 to 9, 37 did. 2 entries finished below grade 4, and 47 finished on grades 4 to 6 against 37 on grades 7 to 9. A tutor's first diagnostic therefore looks at where a grade 5 or 6 pupil drops marks between the middle and the upper grades.

Drayton Manor High School. DfE records 61 separate GCSE Chemistry entries against a cohort of 232 pupils at the end of Key Stage 4. Counting grades 4 to 9, 60 entries reached grade 4 or above; counting grades 7 to 9, 34 did. 1 entry finished below grade 4, and 26 finished on grades 4 to 6 against 34 on grades 7 to 9. More entries sit on grades 7 to 9 than on 4 to 6, so the first diagnostic looks at what separates a 7 from an 8 or 9.

Ealing Fields Church of England High School. DfE records 40 separate GCSE Chemistry entries against a cohort of 151 pupils at the end of Key Stage 4. Counting grades 4 to 9, 40 entries reached grade 4 or above; counting grades 7 to 9, 38 did. Every entry reached grade 4, and 38 of the 40 finished on grades 7 to 9 against 2 on grades 4 to 6, so the first diagnostic looks at what separates a 7 from an 8 or 9, with 21 entries on grade 9 and 13 on grade 8.

Elthorne Park High School. DfE records 69 separate GCSE Chemistry entries against a cohort of 240 pupils at the end of Key Stage 4. Counting grades 4 to 9, 68 entries reached grade 4 or above; counting grades 7 to 9, 48 did. 1 entry finished below grade 4, and 20 finished on grades 4 to 6 against 48 on grades 7 to 9. More entries sit on grades 7 to 9 than on 4 to 6, so the first diagnostic looks at what separates a 7 from an 8 or 9.

Featherstone High School. DfE records 31 separate GCSE Chemistry entries against a cohort of 278 pupils at the end of Key Stage 4. Counting grades 4 to 9, 31 entries reached grade 4 or above; counting grades 7 to 9, 18 did. Every entry reached grade 4, and 18 of the 31 finished on grades 7 to 9 against 13 on grades 4 to 6, so the first diagnostic looks at what separates a 7 from an 8 or 9, with 5 entries on grade 9 and 8 on grade 8.

Greenford High School. DfE records 54 separate GCSE Chemistry entries against a cohort of 292 pupils at the end of Key Stage 4. Counting grades 4 to 9, 52 entries reached grade 4 or above; counting grades 7 to 9, 33 did. 2 entries finished below grade 4, and 19 finished on grades 4 to 6 against 33 on grades 7 to 9. More entries sit on grades 7 to 9 than on 4 to 6, so the first diagnostic looks at what separates a 7 from an 8 or 9.

Islip Manor High School. DfE records 57 separate GCSE Chemistry entries against a cohort of 172 pupils at the end of Key Stage 4. Counting grades 4 to 9, 44 entries reached grade 4 or above; counting grades 7 to 9, 12 did. The other 13 entries finished on grade 3 or below, and 32 finished on grades 4 to 6, so a Chemistry tutor starting here has a wide band to work across: securing grade 4 for some pupils and lifting grade 5 and 6 work towards 7 for others.

Our expert GCSE Chemistry tutors teach pupils from Ealing schools one-to-one and online, whichever of these 15 schools or the five smaller ones a child attends, and share session notes with parents after every lesson.

St Augustine's Priory. DfE records 36 separate GCSE Chemistry entries against a cohort of 74 pupils at the end of Key Stage 4. Counting grades 4 to 9, 33 entries reached grade 4 or above; counting grades 7 to 9, 17 did. 3 entries finished below grade 4, and 16 finished on grades 4 to 6 against 17 on grades 7 to 9. More entries sit on grades 7 to 9 than on 4 to 6, so the first diagnostic looks at what separates a 7 from an 8 or 9.

The Cardinal Wiseman Catholic School. DfE records 95 separate GCSE Chemistry entries against a cohort of 303 pupils at the end of Key Stage 4. Counting grades 4 to 9, 95 entries reached grade 4 or above; counting grades 7 to 9, 46 did. Every entry reached grade 4, and 49 of the 95 finished on grades 4 to 6 against 46 on grades 7 to 9, so for most pupils here the work is on lifting a grade 5 or 6 paper towards 7 rather than on reaching a 4.

The Ellen Wilkinson School for Girls. DfE records 46 separate GCSE Chemistry entries against a cohort of 213 pupils at the end of Key Stage 4. Counting grades 4 to 9, 45 entries reached grade 4 or above; counting grades 7 to 9, 38 did. 1 entry finished below grade 4, and 7 finished on grades 4 to 6 against 38 on grades 7 to 9. More entries sit on grades 7 to 9 than on 4 to 6, so the first diagnostic looks at what separates a 7 from an 8 or 9.

Twyford Church of England High School. DfE records 59 separate GCSE Chemistry entries against a cohort of 201 pupils at the end of Key Stage 4. Counting grades 4 to 9, 59 entries reached grade 4 or above; counting grades 7 to 9, 46 did. Every entry reached grade 4, and 46 of the 59 finished on grades 7 to 9 against 13 on grades 4 to 6, so the first diagnostic looks at what separates a 7 from an 8 or 9, with 11 entries on grade 9 and 21 on grade 8.

Villiers High School. DfE records 45 separate GCSE Chemistry entries against a cohort of 249 pupils at the end of Key Stage 4. Counting grades 4 to 9, 45 entries reached grade 4 or above; counting grades 7 to 9, 35 did. Every entry reached grade 4, and 35 of the 45 finished on grades 7 to 9 against 10 on grades 4 to 6, so the first diagnostic looks at what separates a 7 from an 8 or 9, with 11 entries on grade 9 and 11 on grade 8.

William Perkin Church of England High School. DfE records 61 separate GCSE Chemistry entries against a cohort of 205 pupils at the end of Key Stage 4. Counting grades 4 to 9, 61 entries reached grade 4 or above; counting grades 7 to 9, 48 did. Every entry reached grade 4, and 48 of the 61 finished on grades 7 to 9 against 13 on grades 4 to 6, so the first diagnostic looks at what separates a 7 from an 8 or 9, with 19 entries on grade 9 and 17 on grade 8.

Confidence and progress

My son was low in confidence after COVID and the gaps in learning were building up. Using this service helped plug those gaps, rebuild confidence, and improve his ability to learn properly again.

Amazing tutors!

We arranged maths and English tuition ahead of GCSEs and both tutors were brilliant. My daughter's grades improved, and by results day she achieved two grades higher than in her mock exams.

Great Teaching and Focused Learning

I attended an English bootcamp with Leading Tuition and the experience was excellent. The teacher gave focused attention to the small group while keeping the lessons interactive and engaging.

How do our tutors work with Ealing's GCSE Chemistry pupils?

Sessions are one-to-one online with a shared whiteboard. A programme begins with a short diagnostic against the pupil's own school and exam board, then works through that pupil's past papers and marks them against the real mark scheme. Progress is reviewed against the pupil's own target grade at agreed intervals, and session notes go to parents after each lesson. Every lesson is one-to-one and online.

Our tutors teach the AQA, Pearson Edexcel and OCR specifications, so they confirm which board and which tier a pupil's school has entered them for; our GCSE Chemistry tuition page covers the content, and there are separate pages for AQA GCSE Chemistry tuition, Edexcel GCSE Chemistry tuition and OCR GCSE Chemistry tuition. Our chemistry tutoring service sets out the wider offer.

Ealing families choosing a second subject can also read our GCSE maths tutors in Ealing and GCSE English tutors in Ealing pages, and the Ealing tutoring hub lists everything we offer in the borough. 91% of our students achieve their desired grades.

Book a call and our expert Chemistry tutors will start an Ealing pupil on a diagnostic against their own school's exam board, then build one-to-one online lessons from the paper they sit.

What these figures do not measure

The release is provisional. DfE says that approved result amendments that schools requested have not been applied when the aggregations were calculated, and it published the figures on 15 October 2026. Every count on this page can still move; the source is the DfE key stage 4 performance 2025/26 release.

No Progress 8 exists for these pupils: DfE will not publish progress measures for 2024/25 or 2025/26 because the pupils had no Key Stage 2 assessments. Nothing here measures how much a school added to a pupil's grade.

DfE counts pupils at the end of Key Stage 4, so a school's counts here need not match results-day figures, which count exam entries for 16-year-olds. A tutor measures how far a pupil has come with a short diagnostic against the pupil's own exam board. The GIAS fields quoted above come from the Get Information About Schools register.

Frequently Asked Questions

Are Ealing's summer 2026 GCSE Chemistry figures final?

No. DfE published the figures on 15 October 2026 and labels the release provisional: approved result amendments that schools requested have not been applied. The page reads 20 Ealing schools with separate GCSE Chemistry entries and tables the 15 with 30 or more, 836 entries in all, so a school's counts can still move.

Does the table count every Ealing pupil who studies chemistry?

No. The rows count the separate GCSE (9-1) Chemistry; pupils taking Combined Science sit a different qualification and are not in them. At Brentside High School DfE records 40 Chemistry entries against a cohort of 273, and at The Cardinal Wiseman Catholic School 95 against 303, so the count of pupils who sit the separate GCSE varies widely from school to school.

Which Ealing schools had every separate Chemistry entry reach grade 4?

Eight of the 15 schools tabled: Ada Lovelace Church of England High School, Brentside High School, Ealing Fields Church of England High School, Featherstone High School, The Cardinal Wiseman Catholic School, Twyford Church of England High School, Villiers High School, William Perkin Church of England High School. Together they made 427 entries. Grade 4 and above is our own sum of DfE's rows for grades 4 to 9, and it says little about the upper grades: grade 7 and above runs from 13 of 40 at Brentside High School to 38 of 40 at Ealing Fields Church of England High School.

What did Islip Manor High School's separate GCSE Chemistry entries earn in 2026?

DfE records 57 entries against a cohort of 172. 44 reached grade 4 or above (77%), 12 reached grade 7 or above, and 13 finished below grade 4. These are provisional summer 2026 counts, and the grade 4 and 7 sums are our own additions of DfE's grade rows.

Why is grade 4 and above not enough to choose a Chemistry tutor in Ealing?

Because the count at grade 4 hides the upper grades. Brentside High School and Ealing Fields Church of England High School each had 40 entries and all 40 reached grade 4, yet 13 reached grade 7 or above at the first and 38 at the second. A tutor therefore works from the pupil's own mock paper, not from the school's share at grade 4.

Does Leading Tuition teach Chemistry to pupils at Ealing schools that are not in the table?

Yes. The lessons are one-to-one and online, so any Ealing pupil can book them. DfE lists five more Ealing schools with fewer than 30 separate Chemistry entries (Alec Reed Academy (20), Ark Acton Academy (14), Ark Soane Academy (7), Ayesha Siddiqa Girls School (3), Ealing Independent College (3)); they are outside the table, not outside the service. A tutor starts from the pupil's own exam board and latest mock paper.

How does an Ealing pupil start GCSE Chemistry tuition with Leading Tuition?

A family books a free consultation through the button on this page or by WhatsApp. The first step is a short diagnostic against the pupil's own school and exam board. Sessions then run one-to-one online with a shared whiteboard, working through the pupil's own past papers and marking against the real mark scheme, with session notes sent to parents after each lesson.
