DfE's provisional summer 2026 GCSE maths grades for the 17 Ealing schools with 30 or more entries, and what they mean for a tutor's target.
Book a Free ConsultationLeading Tuition's GCSE maths tutors for Ealing are expert one-to-one online teachers who set each pupil's target from their own school's results: DfE's provisional summer 2026 table lists 17 Ealing schools with 30 or more GCSE maths entries, where the grade 4 or above share runs from 94% at Twyford Church of England High School (200 entries) to 49% at Islip Manor High School (171 entries).
Ealing means the London borough, DfE's local authority 307. The 17 schools made 3,687 GCSE (9-1) maths entries between them, 2,886 of them at grade 4 or above (78.3%) and 305 at grade 9.

Book a Free Consultation Message us on WhatsAppEight schools have 85% or more of their entries at grade 4 or above: Twyford Church of England High School (187 of 200, 94%), Ark Soane Academy (151 of 167, 90%), Elthorne Park High School (209 of 235, 89%), Ealing Fields Church of England High School (133 of 151, 88%), Drayton Manor High School (204 of 232, 88%), The Cardinal Wiseman Catholic School (264 of 301, 88%), William Perkin Church of England High School (178 of 205, 87%) and Ada Lovelace Church of England High School (165 of 193, 85%). Entry counts in this group run from 151 to 301, so the band holds year groups of very different sizes.
Five schools sit between 70% and 84%: Villiers High School (201 of 248, 81%), The Ellen Wilkinson School for Girls (170 of 212, 80%), Featherstone High School (212 of 278, 76%), Dormers Wells High School (182 of 245, 74%) and Greenford High School (207 of 290, 71%). These are year groups of 212 to 290 entries each, so every percentage in this band stands on a large cohort.
Four schools have between 49% and 63% at grade 4 or above: Alec Reed Academy (110 of 174, 63%), Brentside High School (162 of 270, 60%), Ark Acton Academy (67 of 115, 58%) and Islip Manor High School (84 of 171, 49%). Brentside has 270 entries and Ark Acton 115, so a similar share stands on very different numbers of pupils. A share describes a year group's results in one summer, not the pupil sitting in front of a tutor.
Across all 17 schools, 801 entries were not at grade 4 or above. That is the count of entries below grade 4, and it is spread unevenly: Brentside High School, Islip Manor High School and Greenford High School account for 278 of them (35%), from 108 of 270, 87 of 171 and 83 of 290 entries.
The table gives DfE's counts for each of the 17 schools, in order of the grade 4+ share. The order is a sort of one column and not a ranking of teaching: the entries column shows how many pupils stand behind each percentage. Grade 7+ and grade 5+ are sums of DfE's single-grade counts, and the share is grade 4+ entries divided by total entries.
| School | Entries | Grade 9 | Grade 7+ | Grade 5+ | Grade 4+ | Grade 4+ share |

Book a Free Consultation Message us on WhatsAppThree schools sit at 88% of entries at grade 4 or above: The Cardinal Wiseman Catholic School, Drayton Manor High School and Ealing Fields Church of England High School. Their top ends differ widely. The Cardinal Wiseman Catholic School has 18 of 301 entries at grade 9, Drayton Manor High School has 26 of 232 and Ealing Fields Church of England High School has 22 of 151. Measured at grade 7 or above, the three give 118 of 301, 89 of 232 and 78 of 151.
A pupil aiming for grade 8 or 9 at Ealing Fields Church of England High School, where 52% of entries reached grade 7 or above, is in a different year group from one at The Cardinal Wiseman Catholic School, where the figure is 39% of 301 entries. A tutor who knows both numbers plans the Higher tier papers differently: more time on the top of the Higher tier papers, or more time on securing the middle of them.
Villiers High School and The Ellen Wilkinson School for Girls show the same effect one band lower. They are 81% (201 of 248) and 80% (170 of 212) at grade 4 or above, yet Villiers High School has 36 of 248 entries at grade 9 and The Ellen Wilkinson School for Girls has 17 of 212.
The grade 9 count is the sharpest local difference in the table. Villiers High School has 36 of 248, Elthorne Park High School has 32 of 235 and Twyford Church of England High School has 32 of 200, while Brentside High School has 4 of 270, Islip Manor High School has 2 of 171 and Ark Acton Academy has 1 of 115. Four schools (Villiers High School, Elthorne Park High School, Twyford Church of England High School and Ada Lovelace Church of England High School) hold 131 of the 305 grade 9 entries (43%) on 876 of the 3,687 entries (24%).
My son was low in confidence after COVID and the gaps in learning were building up. Using this service helped plug those gaps, rebuild confidence, and improve his ability to learn properly again.
We arranged maths and English tuition ahead of GCSEs and both tutors were brilliant. My daughter's grades improved, and by results day she achieved two grades higher than in her mock exams.
I attended an English bootcamp with Leading Tuition and the experience was excellent. The teacher gave focused attention to the small group while keeping the lessons interactive and engaging.
At the lower end of the table the first target is often the pass itself. At Islip Manor High School, 84 of 171 entries reached grade 4 or above and 87 did not. At Brentside High School the figures are 162 of 270 and 108, at Greenford High School 207 of 290 and 83, and at Ark Acton Academy 67 of 115 and 48.
Within the not-yet-4 group the first question is how far from a 4 a pupil is. At Brentside High School, 44 entries were graded 3, the grade directly beneath a 4, from 270 entries in all. At Islip Manor High School it was 33 from 171, and at Greenford High School 25 from 290. A pupil on a 3 and a pupil on a 1 need different tutoring, and a school-wide share cannot tell them apart, which is why a tutor starts with the child's own mock paper.
The grade 5 line matters too. DfE's English and maths headline measure counts grade 5 or above, and in this table Featherstone High School has 158 of 278 entries at 5 or above against 212 at 4 or above, a gap of 54 entries. At Twyford Church of England High School the same gap is 27 entries from 200. For a pupil on a 4 who wants a 5, the grade 4 to 5 step is a bigger share of the year group at Featherstone High School than at Twyford Church of England High School.
No figure in this table is a statement about a particular pupil, a particular class or the quality of a school's teaching. DfE counts entries, and a school's maths department, intake and tier entry decisions all shape the numbers. The table is context for choosing a tutor's first target, and the child's own paper is the evidence.
Pupils at the lower end of the table often start with a grade 3 or 4 to secure, and pupils at the top with a grade 8 or 9 to reach. Book a call and you get a one-to-one online GCSE maths tutor for that target, with a plan built from your child's own mock paper and exam board.
Book a Free Consultation Message us on WhatsAppSessions are one-to-one and online, with a shared whiteboard. A programme starts with a short diagnostic against the pupil's own school and exam board, then works through that pupil's past papers and marks them against the real mark scheme. Session notes go to parents after each lesson, and progress is reviewed against the target grade agreed at the start.
The tutor confirms which tier the school has entered the pupil for, Foundation or Higher, and which specification the school follows, AQA, Pearson Edexcel or OCR. The GCSE maths tuition page covers tiers and boards, and the maths tutoring service page sets out the wider offer. For the borough itself, tuition in Ealing covers the other subjects; for a neighbouring borough's GCSE maths results on the same DfE table, see GCSE maths tutors in Barnet and GCSE maths tutors in Harrow.
Because tuition is online, an Ealing pupil's sessions do not depend on travel across the borough, and a family at any of the 17 schools in the table has the same access to a tutor. 91% of Leading Tuition students achieve their desired grades.
DfE's GCSE (9-1) full-course mathematics table for Ealing, local authority 307, lists 22 schools. This page reads the 17 with 30 or more entries, so that every percentage has a cohort of at least 115 behind it. The five outside that 30-entry floor are Ealing Independent College (26 entries), Insights Independent School (21), Ayesha Siddiqa Girls School (15), St Augustine's Priory (11) and North West London Independent Special School (6).
DfE published the release on 15 October 2026 and states that the data is provisional: any approved result amendments that schools requested have not been applied when the figures were aggregated. DfE's next release is due in February 2027, so a school's counts can still change. The table is read from the API for dataset version 2.0, academic year 2025/26, summer 2026 exams.
DfE also states that Progress 8 cannot be calculated for the 2024/25 and 2025/26 cohorts because no Key Stage 2 prior attainment data exists for them. Nothing on this page measures how much a school added to a pupil's grade. The official release is on DfE's key stage 4 performance page, and the subject school level data set holds the rows read here.
Among the 17 Ealing schools with 30 or more entries, Twyford Church of England High School had the highest share: 187 of 200 entries at grade 4 or above, 94%. Ark Soane Academy followed with 151 of 167 (90%) and Elthorne Park High School with 209 of 235 (89%). At the other end, Islip Manor High School had 84 of 171 (49%). These are DfE's provisional figures for summer 2026, and the cohort size sits beside each one because a share from 115 entries does not weigh the same as one from 301.
DfE's provisional table gives 305 grade 9 entries across the 17 Ealing schools with 30 or more entries, from 3,687 entries in total. The counts run from 36 of 248 at Villiers High School to 1 of 115 at Ark Acton Academy. Elthorne Park High School and Twyford Church of England High School each have 32, from 235 and 200 entries, and Brentside High School has 4 of 270. The counts are entries rather than pupils.
No. DfE published them on 15 October 2026 and labels the release provisional: approved result amendments that schools requested have not been applied. DfE's next release is due in February 2027, so counts can still move. This page reads dataset version 2.0 for academic year 2025/26. Treat the percentages as a guide to the size of the gap between schools, not as final results.
No. It sets context, and the target comes from the child's own paper. The Cardinal Wiseman Catholic School, Drayton Manor High School and Ealing Fields Church of England High School all sit at 88% at grade 4 or above, yet have 18 of 301, 26 of 232 and 22 of 151 entries at grade 9. A tutor starts with a diagnostic against the pupil's exam board, agrees a target grade with the family, and reviews progress against it.
It is one-to-one and online, with a shared whiteboard, so a pupil at any of the Ealing schools in the table works with a tutor without travelling. Sessions follow the pupil's own exam board and past papers, with marking against the real mark scheme and session notes to parents after each lesson. A free consultation call by the button on this page or WhatsApp is the first step.
The tutor teaches whichever specification the pupil's school has entered them for: AQA, Pearson Edexcel or OCR, at Foundation or Higher tier. The first session confirms both with the pupil's school paperwork and latest mock paper. The GCSE maths tuition page sets out tiers and boards, and a programme is built from that confirmed route and the target grade agreed with the family.
The page applies a floor of 30 entries so each percentage rests on a real cohort. DfE's table for Ealing lists 22 schools, and five fall below that floor: Ealing Independent College (26 entries), Insights Independent School (21), Ayesha Siddiqa Girls School (15), St Augustine's Priory (11) and North West London Independent Special School (6). Our tutors work with pupils from any Ealing school, in or out of the table.
