Which eight schools does DfE's Chemistry table give for Twickenham?

DfE has no local authority called Twickenham. Its summer 2026 subject table for the London Borough of Richmond upon Thames lists 18 schools with a GCSE (9-1) Full Course Chemistry row, and eight of them have Twickenham as a component of their address in GIAS, the Department for Education's register of schools. Every one of the eight has a TW1 or TW2 postcode. The register file was read on 3 November 2026 and only schools open on that date were considered.

The eight are Orleans Park School, Waldegrave School, St Richard Reynolds Catholic High School, Turing House School, The Richmond upon Thames School, Twickenham School, Kneller Hall School and St Catherine's School. St Richard Reynolds Catholic High School and St Catherine's School are included by the same TW1 postcode rule as the others. The other ten schools in the borough table have Richmond, Hampton, Teddington, East Molesey or south-west London addresses and fall outside this page's cut. The same address rule is used on our GCSE maths tutors in Twickenham and GCSE biology tutors in Twickenham pages.

What the rows count matters as much as which schools they cover. DfE's table separates qualifications, and the rows here are for GCSE (9-1) Full Course Chemistry, the separate GCSE. Pupils taking Combined Science (Double Award), a different qualification, are in other rows, so a school's Chemistry entries never describe its whole year group. Each count below is therefore read beside the school's cohort, the number of pupils at the end of Key Stage 4.

How many pupils at each school sit Chemistry as a separate GCSE?

The table sets each school's Chemistry entries beside its cohort. The last column is our own ratio of DfE's two counts, entries per 100 pupils, and it is a count ratio only; it says nothing about why a school enters the number it does.

Cohorts run from 58 pupils at St Catherine's School to 219 at Orleans Park School and Waldegrave School. Entries per 100 pupils run from 33.7 at Turing House School to 57.1 at Orleans Park School, with The Richmond upon Thames School at 55.6. An entry is one Chemistry GCSE sat, so a pupil taking Chemistry produces one entry, and the ratio simply divides one DfE count by the other.

Pupils at any of these eight schools can start GCSE Chemistry tuition with an expert tutor who works one-to-one online. Book a free call and you get a tutor for the pupil's own Chemistry papers, whichever grade they are aiming for.

What are the grade counts at each Twickenham school?

Each row gives the number of entries at each grade from 9 down to 1, then U and X. The nine grades plus U and X add up to the school's entries in every row, so a grade left at zero is a real zero.

Orleans Park School

Orleans Park School made 125 Chemistry entries from a cohort of 219. Of these, 84 were at grades 9 to 7, including 33 at grade 9 and 30 at grade 8, and 123 were at grade 4 or above. The other two entries were one U and one X.

Waldegrave School

Waldegrave School made 93 entries from 219 pupils: 29 at grade 9, 22 at grade 8 and 13 at grade 7, which is 64 at grades 9 to 7. Four entries were below grade 4, three at grade 3 and one at grade 2.

St Richard Reynolds Catholic High School

St Richard Reynolds Catholic High School made 62 entries from 177 pupils, with 22 at grade 9, 18 at grade 8, 10 at grade 7, 10 at grade 6 and 2 at grade 5. No entry fell below grade 5.

Turing House School

Turing House School made 55 entries from 163 pupils: 12 at grade 9, 13 at grade 8, 10 at grade 7, 19 at grade 6 and 1 at grade 5. Grade 6 holds the most entries of any grade at this school, and no entry fell below grade 5.

The Richmond upon Thames School

The Richmond upon Thames School made 80 entries from a cohort of 144, the second-highest entries-to-cohort ratio of the eight after Orleans Park School (55.6 entries per 100 pupils against 57.1). Its grades run from 3 at grade 9 and 17 at grade 8 down through 15 at grade 5 and 14 at grade 4, with 7 entries below grade 4 (6 at grade 3 and 1 at grade 2).

Twickenham School

Twickenham School made 61 entries from 131 pupils, with entries at every grade from 1 to 9: 5 at grade 9, 10 at grade 8, 7 at grade 7, 9 at grade 6, 11 at grade 5, 3 at grade 4, 12 at grade 3, 2 at grade 2 and 1 at grade 1. One entry is recorded as X.

Kneller Hall School

Kneller Hall School made 32 entries from 65 pupils: 21 at grade 9, 7 at grade 8 and 4 at grade 7. All 32 entries were at grades 9 to 7.

St Catherine's School

St Catherine's School made 30 entries from 58 pupils, with 7 at grade 9, 10 at grade 8, 6 at grade 7, 5 at grade 6 and 2 at grade 5. No entry fell below grade 5.

How many entries reached grade 7 or grade 4 at each school?

These columns are our own sums of the rows above. Grades 9 to 7 adds the entries at grades 9, 8 and 7. Grade 4 or above adds grades 9 down to 4. Below grade 4 or ungraded is the school's entries minus its grade 4 or above entries, so it includes any U or X as well as grades 3, 2 and 1.

Every entry was at grade 4 or above at four of the schools: Kneller Hall School, St Catherine's School, St Richard Reynolds Catholic High School and Turing House School. Counted from the rows, that is 32, 30, 62 and 55 entries respectively in the order listed, set beside cohorts of 65, 58, 177 and 163. Their GIAS records read as follows, and the page draws nothing further from them. Kneller Hall School is recorded as an other independent school with an admissions policy of selective. St Catherine's School is an other independent school, recorded as girls, with a Catholic religious character and an admissions policy of not applicable. St Richard Reynolds Catholic High School is an academy converter with a Roman Catholic religious character and an admissions policy of not applicable. Turing House School is a free school with an admissions policy of non-selective. GIAS leaves the admissions policy field blank for The Richmond upon Thames School and Twickenham School, and the page says nothing about their intake.

The other four schools each had entries below grade 4 or ungraded: Orleans Park School 2 (one U and one X), Waldegrave School 4, The Richmond upon Thames School 7 and Twickenham School 16, of which one is an X. Of Twickenham School's 61 entries, 15 were at grades 3 to 1.

Confidence and progress

My son was low in confidence after COVID and the gaps in learning were building up. Using this service helped plug those gaps, rebuild confidence, and improve his ability to learn properly again.

Amazing tutors!

We arranged maths and English tuition ahead of GCSEs and both tutors were brilliant. My daughter's grades improved, and by results day she achieved two grades higher than in her mock exams.

Great Teaching and Focused Learning

I attended an English bootcamp with Leading Tuition and the experience was excellent. The teacher gave focused attention to the small group while keeping the lessons interactive and engaging.

What does a one-to-one online Chemistry programme do with these counts?

A school's counts describe a group, and a tutor teaches one pupil. They are useful for two things before the first session. The first is the qualification: a tutor confirms with the family whether the pupil is entered for separate GCSE Chemistry or for Combined Science, because the papers differ. The second is the room the pupil is working in. At Twickenham School the entries run across every grade from 1 to 9, so a pupil's own grade is the starting point, and no school-wide figure stands in for it. At Kneller Hall School all 32 entries were at grades 9 to 7, so there too the work starts from the pupil's own paper rather than from the school's profile.

Our expert GCSE Chemistry tutors help pupils across Twickenham, one-to-one online, whichever of the eight schools they attend. Book a free call and you get a Chemistry tutor for the pupil's tier and exam board, and a first-session plan drawn from their own latest paper.

Sessions then run one-to-one online with a shared whiteboard, working through the pupil's own past papers and marking against the real mark scheme, with session notes shared with parents after each lesson. Foundation and Higher tier are both taught, and each programme follows whichever exam board the pupil's school has entered them for. Because the teaching is online, a pupil at any of the eight schools joins from home, and no tutor is asked to travel to Twickenham.

Families planning beyond GCSE can see how the same borough's A level data reads on our A level chemistry tutors in Twickenham page, and pupils taking Biology alongside Chemistry can start from our GCSE biology tutors in Twickenham page. Our wider GCSE Chemistry tuition guide covers the course content, and our tutors in Twickenham page lists every level we teach in the town.

How provisional are these Chemistry figures?

DfE states that the data in its Key stage 4 performance release for 2025/26 is provisional. The release was published on 15 October 2026 and last updated on 28 October 2026, and every school row on this page was read from DfE's API on 3 November 2026. Provisional rows can change on revision, so a school's own record is the final word on an individual pupil's grade.

No Progress 8 exists for these pupils: DfE will not publish progress measures for 2024/25 or 2025/26 because the pupils had no Key Stage 2 assessments. Nothing on this page is an all-subject measure. Every figure is an entry or grade count in GCSE (9-1) Chemistry, and the sums are labelled as ours wherever we have added DfE's rows together.

GCSE Chemistry tutor Twickenham: common questions

Which schools count as Twickenham in these GCSE Chemistry figures?

A school counts when it is open in GIAS, the Department for Education's register of schools, in the London Borough of Richmond upon Thames, with Twickenham as a component of its address; every school that passes has a TW1 or TW2 postcode. Eight schools pass and each has a GCSE (9-1) Chemistry row in DfE's summer 2026 table: Orleans Park School, Waldegrave School, St Richard Reynolds Catholic High School, Turing House School, The Richmond upon Thames School, Twickenham School, Kneller Hall School and St Catherine's School.

How many pupils at Twickenham schools sit GCSE Chemistry as a separate GCSE?

DfE's provisional summer 2026 table records 538 GCSE (9-1) Chemistry entries at the eight Twickenham schools, against 1,176 pupils at the end of Key Stage 4. Orleans Park School has the most entries, 125 from a cohort of 219. Kneller Hall School has 32 from 65, and St Catherine's School has 30 from 58. Entries are the number of Chemistry GCSEs sat, so each figure is read beside its own school's cohort.

Is separate GCSE Chemistry the same as Combined Science?

No. The rows on this page are for GCSE (9-1) Chemistry, the separate qualification. Combined Science (Double Award) is a different qualification, so a pupil entered for it is not counted in these Chemistry rows. Before a tutor plans a programme, the first question is which of the two the pupil's school has entered them for, because they are different qualifications with their own papers.

Which Twickenham schools had every Chemistry entry at grade 4 or above?

Four of the eight, by the summer 2026 rows: Kneller Hall School (32 entries), St Catherine's School (30), St Richard Reynolds Catholic High School (62) and Turing House School (55). At Orleans Park School 123 of 125 entries were at grade 4 or above, with one U and one X. Waldegrave School had 4 entries below grade 4, The Richmond upon Thames School 7 and Twickenham School 16 below grade 4 or ungraded. These are counts beside cohort sizes, not a ranking.

Are DfE's summer 2026 Chemistry figures final?

No. DfE states that the data in its Key stage 4 performance release is provisional. The release was published on 15 October 2026 and last updated on 28 October 2026, and the school rows on this page are the provisional rows as read from DfE's API on 3 November 2026. A school's own results letter or results-day record is the final word on an individual pupil's grade.

Is the tutoring online or in Twickenham?

Sessions are one-to-one online with a shared whiteboard, so a pupil at any of the eight schools joins from home. The tutor works through the pupil's own past papers, marks against the real mark scheme and shares session notes with parents after each lesson. A free consultation comes first, and the WhatsApp link on this page reaches the same team.

Does DfE publish a Progress 8 score for these Twickenham pupils?

No Progress 8 exists for these pupils: DfE will not publish progress measures for 2024/25 or 2025/26 because the pupils had no Key Stage 2 assessments. The figures here are counts of entries and grades in one subject, and none of them is an all-subject measure.
